In the US, and at least, somewhat in Western and Eastern Europe, the “Vibe Shift” is moving so quickly, it is hard to keep up with it. The pace of societal change toward the dissident right is advancing at lighting speed. Take, for example, opinions on Israel and the Israel lobby in the US. A year ago, Tucker Carlson started making what were then quite edgy videos critical of the government of Israel. Now it's August 2025 and a 28 year-old half-Mexican kid, Nicholas Fuentes, is giving Mr. Carlson headaches because his position on Zionism is much too moderate. The public opinion polls show that large portions of the electorate, particularly young people, are resisting the siren call of Zionism.
Trump’s weak efforts to deport illegal aliens and his softening of his promised position to deport millions of these miscreants is causing push-back from his own supporters. The man who promised to fight against the “deep state” is defending Epstein clients. His supporters are moving to the right of Trump and looking upon him as a wimpy trimmer and rightly so.
One of the advantages of being a gray-haired oldster is a modest ability to make comparisons with previous periods of history in my own lifetime. What 1968 was to the Left is what 2025 is to the Right. Lyndon Johnson’s administration was considered quite a radical one. Momentous civil rights bills were passed by Congress and signed into law. The old Texas New-dealer put into place a gigantic welfare bureaucracy called “The Great Society.” However, dissent on the Vietnam War persuaded the wily Texan to throw in the towel on his plans to run for re-election.
Trump has become the Lyndon Johnson of 2025. He is losing his base partly because the old man has relinquished his power to his Zionist and Neo-Liberal aides and advisors. The foolish Democrats are celebrating this. In their focus on the person of Donald Trump they assumed all along that if they destroyed Trump they would derail the movement he headed. This is wrong. If you look at the recent party registration data, folks are leaving the Democrat party in droves. The Dissident Right will do fine without Trump.
My only caution is for ex-Trump supporters to steer clear of the Tech-bro faction of the Trump coalition. All those guys care about is profits for high-tech companies. They want to fill the country with cheap Indian HB1 visa holders. I originally supported Vance but I am beginning to think he’s a cat’s paw for Peter Thiel. I really don’t think the Tech-bros care about the American working and lower-middle class. If we stick with the populist nationalism of folks like Majorie Taylor Greene all will be well.
